Meguru, The Other Hikari

Challenged me to draw Hikari's dark half, so I did!

Prepare for Lengthy Bio...

-Meguru-

Age: Unknown (died over 5000 years ago)
Height: A little taller than Hikari
Family: None that she remembers
Friends: None at first, but gains Hikari's trust after she is converted to good
Alignment: Pure Evil at first, then changes to Chaotic Good, only wanting to help Hikari first
Appearance(s): Same as Hikari, but her eyes are red, and her bangs separate and move up

Meguru is the name given to her by an entity unknown to her. Her real name is unknown. Back in Ancient Egypt, she was a lady to the queen, tending to the queen needs and wishes. The queen, in turn, would provide her with the most expensive and fancy garments, as well as entrance into her chambers, the place that only the pharaoh and her are allowed. The pharaoh, after finding this out, banished her to the outskirts to "rot in the desert". Abandoned, she used whatever means to survive, but was about to draw her last breath when said entity appeared:

"It's not time to go yet..."

"What....? Who are you?"

"You want to be with the queen, where you belong, right?"

"I....I do. My place is with her."

I can accomplish that, I will give you the power so that you can always be by her side, however...

"What is it?"

"You must sacrifice your weak side, the side that surrendered to the pharaoh, in order to accomplish this, for in order to be by her side, you must replace the only one who can be by her side..."

"The...the pharaoh?"

"That's right, with him gone, you can be with the queen forever, isn't that what you want?"

"I...I want to be by her..."

"Then you must eliminate the one person who stands in your way. He has no right tossing you aside like that..."

"I..." her eyes began to glow red. "I will kill him!"

Immediately she stood up, dark energy enveloping her, and made her way towards the palace, where she confronted the pharaoh.

"You...what is the meaning of this?!"

"No one...no one gets on between me and my queen!"

"This is-"

She began to launch a barrage of attacks, the pharaoh's priests immediately coming in between. One priest, Isis, used the power of the Millennium Necklace to banish her away. As she disappeared into the darkness, she made one last effort to be with the queen by transfering some of her energy into the queen's Millennium Earrings, to which she resides in today.

Now...

Still bitter and aimful for revenge against the pharaoh, she waits for someone to claim the Millennium Earrings. However, this time around, her intentions are different. In an attempt to kill the holders of the Millennium Items, the people who she believes has something to do with the pharaoh's revival, she creates a set of dark Millennium Items called the Dark Eye Items (think Dark Signers, but with Millennium Items). Anyone in possession of one hold a small fraction of her ever growing dark power, but held in the hands of a mere human, one with greed and bitterness in their hearts, could cause terrible calamities.

During the events of my fanfiction, in Season one, she is finally revived and tries to separate Hikari and Yami during a worldwide Duel Monsters tournament, almost killing Hikari in the process... Yami finds a way to seal her in the Millennium Earrings for now...

In Season two, Hikari learns that since she has the Millennium Earrings, she and Meguru are now bonded, however dangerous that may be. After a lapse of judgement on Hikari's part, Meguru is released again, this time claiming a body of her own and beginning to complete the Dark Eye Items. As Hikari finds out the Yami is a target, she begs Yami not to give in. However Yami, after watching Joey claim a Dark Eye Item of his own, gives in to his inner angst and claims the Dark Eye Puzzle. Hikari, unsure of what to do, goes to an unusual source of help, a voice tells her of an ancient power, older than the Millennium Items, that could possibly free Yami from Meguru's spell: The Orichalcos (Which explains the Orichalcos Hikari pic). Yugi, upon learning this, begs Hikari not to use it when facing Yami, but Hikari uses it anyway in an attempt to free Yami from the Dark Eye's power. She succeeds, however she can't save herself as she loses her soul to both the Orichalcos and the Dark Eye. Yami, now free from the Meguru's control, confronts her in a final showdown which ultimately frees her of her own spell as well, turning her into the Meguru she was back in Ancient Egypt, before any of this ever happened.....


As a free spirit, she now resides in the Millennium Earrings, giving Hikari advice and acting as a mentor and bodyguard. She even calls Hikari "Aibou".
